APPRECIATING THE LITTLE THINGS

Lately, I'm all about the little things. The little moments that easily get overlooked, but strung together make up an entire life. 

Jeremy and I have been watching (or re-watching for me) Seinfeld from the beginning as we eat dinner after work. It's such a small thing but I always get so excited when we make our food, or more realistically lately, go out and get our food, and come back home to watch a little Seinfeld. It's the perfect summer escapism show and it just has been making us laugh so much! So as silly as it may seem, the couch, Jeremy, and Seinfeld have become a little happy place for me these past couple weeks and I couldn't love it more!

So here's to reminding myself to stop and enjoy all the little happy moments in life even if they seem as silly as eating yummy food and watching a TV show.

FIRST DAY OF LAGOON!

We bought season passes to Lagoon!! 
And Sunday afternoon we went for the first time this year. It was so much fun!

We started the day with the train ride because we both love that train ride; it's just so calming to ride around the lake and have the breeze on your face. I also love being able to see all the animals up close. 

Fun story: The first time Jeremy and I ever rode that train right when we pulled around to the tiger cages a tiger roared at us! Like legitimately opened his mouth fiercely and roared! It was so terrifying but also really cool to see that! It's never happened since, but that tiger did NOT like something about our train that time or someone sitting on it. His roar was so deep and ferocious and pretty terrifying. Has anyone else heard a tiger roar in real life? It's crazy isn't it?!

We rode all the fun rides and the lines were so short we just walked up to each ride, waited a minute for the current ride to finish and then hopped on! Those are my favorite days for sure! Although its always intimidating when you go up to ride Cannibal and as soon as you get to the gates they tell you you can just hop on. There's literally no time to mentally prepare for what you're about to do when there isn't a line haha.

It was such a lovely day! And the best part is because we have passes there's not that underlying stress to try to squeeze everything into one day. We literally went and rode everything we wanted to ride that day and left after about 3 hours. 

Yay for a summer of Lagoon trips and Seven Peak waterslides after work everyday. :) 

WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Are you watching The Path on Hulu? 
If not, you really should be. 

It stars Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan who are both babes! I may have little crushes on both of them. It's about a cult in New York, and the story is just so good! A lot of it reminds me of Scientology but the cult in the show is fictional. 

Jeremy and I have been obsessed with that show recently and get so excited everytime a new episode pops up. For some reason we can never remember what day it gets released each week but we also won't just look it up. It's a fun little question to ask each other when we sit down with our dinner in front of the tv. I can't keep track of the amount of times Jeremy has asked me "Is there a new Path?" I'm pretty sure it gets released on Wednesdays but who's to really know? The internet. But that's too much work. :)

P.S. We literally never eat food at a table. Is eating at a table the norm still or in front of the TV? We always watch TV when we eat at home and I think it's seriously one of my favorite things! I love a good dinner and TV date! Seriously though, I could probably count the amount of times we've eaten at the table on less than two hands and each time it's because my mama was in town. 

Also last night was the best! We both got home kind of late and were too tired to make dinner so we just had bowls of cereal for dinner on the couch, cuddled up to watch The Path and I can't think of a better way to spend a Wednesday night!

A YEAR OF DATING AND STILL STRANGERS

The other night, Jeremy and I were filling out passenger information on the computer for plane tickets. Well, he was filling it out, I was sewing next to him, when suddenly he got to the information for me and stopped at my middle name section box and asked

"Can you spell it for me?" 
I got very suspicious and said "just try" but he sat there longer avoiding typing at all. Then I asked
"You don't remember my middle name do you?" 

We've had this conversation a few months ago when I realized he didn't know my middle name at all so I was surprised he still hadn't programed it into his memory after that conversation. 

He admitted he didn't know it, and I being a little brat just made him keep guessing. After guessing a couple wrong names he asked for the first letter and when I told him "N" he immediately guessed it correctly, but geez louise! A year of dating and this kid still had no idea what my middle name was.

Then it was just full blown quiz time after that! I made him fill out the rest without any help from me only to tell him he needed to correct my middle name from "Nicole" to Nicolle. (My dad threw an extra "L" in there which I'm grateful he did; it makes a typical name a little more unique.) 

I also had to make Jeremy correct my birthday to September 12th. He put the 18th haha. And I had to help him with the year. He started at 1989 and then just kept working his way more recent. I know I have a lot of white hair but not an '89 amount. ;)

 

Oh goodness, I can tell you everything about that kid but he can't remember the same dumb little things about me. I teased him a lot for it, but I feel totally justified in doing so! Who the heck can't remember a birthday or middle name for the person you love?!

4TH OF JULY!

Oh, Fourth of July weekend was the best! The 4th of July is my third favorite holiday! It goes:
1. Christmas
2. Halloween
3. 4th of July!
I love everything about it. The parades, the red, white, and blue attire, the fireworks, the patriotism, the barbecues, the festivals, and just the general focus on family and friends. I love it all!

Jeremy and I started our day off by going to the Fourth of July Parade in Murray. We found a nice little shady spot to set up our chairs which made a world of a difference! Shade vs. sun during an hour and a half parade really makes or breaks the experience. I just have so many memories of having a headache on the 4th of July just from being out in the sun all day and not drinking enough water.

After the parade we went to a new coffee shop that opened near Liberty Park called Amour Cafe. It was their grand opening so they still had some kinks to work out but it was a cute little shop! I had a yummy chai latte and Jeremy got his usual, a flat white.

We then went home to have a barbecue with my family. Homemade hamburgers will always beat out anything else. After the barbecue, Forrest, Jeremy, and I went to Seven Peaks to spend the hot hours of the day. It was surprisingly a lot busier than I  thought it would be! I think I'm just used to going during good times of the week when it's not crowded that I forget it can be busy. The longer we stayed, the more the crowds died down and it was nice to just ride a bunch of the waterslides quickly.

We went to the Sugarhouse Park to watch the fireworks. There were seriously thousands of people there! So many people go and it's such a fun thing to just walk around and see all the cute families and groups of friends there together. Some of Jeremy's sibling met up with us at the park and we played some card games while we waited for it to get dark. The fireworks were so fun and such a nice show!

Overall, it was such a fun 4th of July and will be a nice little memory of our first holiday spent together. :)
