Does anyone else have stress induced sleepiness?
I feel like anytime I'm overly stressed or in the midst of any type of confrontation I get really sleepy. Like just yawning up a storm and wanting to lay down wherever I am and take a little nap. I know it must totally be a coping mechanism but I wonder just how common it is.
Sometimes Jeremy will come to me to talk something out or try to get my input and I just feel like clocking out for a good 30 minutes. There was one time when we were thinking about buying a new camera together, and he just wanted to sit down and talk about which camera I was leaning towards, and I just kept yawning and looking over at my pillow who was just sweetly calling out my name asking me to lay down. I'm pretty sure I even ended up giving in and napping after our super short camera conversation. (I mean, that was even an exciting thing and my mind still wanted to flee from that conversation because it required some type of decision to be made.)
It's not even something that I intentionally do, it just happens. I know it's my body trying to manage stress but it really is the worst response I can think of. I remember it would happen a lot when I was in college. I would sit down to do the hours of homework I knew I had to do but end up taking a nap instead because I was too stressed to even start! Instead of trying to tackle any of it, I would just run away from all of it. Dumb haha.
So if anyone else has this, let me know what you do to push past it. Because once I get to that stress-sleepy phase, it's all downhill from there!

WEIRD LITTLE THINGS
1. I've watched The Office from start to finish I don't know how many times, and I bawl my eyes out when it ends everytime. That last episode is so happy and cute, but makes me cry every single time knowing the show is over.
If Netflix was going to bring back any show for a season it should be The Office! But knowing how bad those remake seasons go, I probably wouldn't want The Office butchered like that. We just watched the second to last episode last night and I know the inevitable is coming. I guess I'll just have to start from the pilot again. Jeremy, you down? :)
2. I brought my yoga mat to my office yesterday so I can take little micro breaks to do some quick crunches and push ups behind my desk, but I haven't worked up the courage to actually do it yet. I should just do it though! My coworkers take a million breaks to go smoke outside so whats the difference between that and me having a quick crunch break? I just know it will be funny when someone walks in my office and I'm down on the floor behind my desk on a yoga mat.
3. I just started the podcast S-Town thanks to my friend Britt who told me about it. Who else is listening to it? I'm just on episode 3 but I'm already so hooked!
4. I keep seeing acai bowls all over the internet but I've yet to try anything acai. Is it worth all the hype? I just watched a video of Aspyn Ovard making one and it looked really good! I just feel like acai really got popular these past two years. Maybe that's what I'll try to make this week!
5. I realized I'm super impulsive in some areas and very slow to pull the trigger in others. I'll explain. A couple days ago I was at work when I got the idea to fly to LA for Easter weekend. That same evening I had convinced Jeremy to go with me and we were buying tickets. (I didn't really have to convince him, he wanted to go.)
But he's been asking me for about a week to pull the trigger on a hotel or AirBnb for another trip we're going on in May and I just couldn't do it! For a whole week I put off booking hotels, but I bought airplane tickets in less than 8 hours of having the idea. I think it boils down to feeling like only after I book a hotel will I find one I like more and feel like I missed out.
6. The last Weird Little Things list I talked about the movie IT and being scared of pennywise. When I wrote that, I had no idea they were doing a remake of the movie! I watched the trailer for the new one a few days ago and it looks so scary! Woof. I don't know if seeing that will help diminish my fear or only increase it. It does look good though!
That being said, why did they make the kid hit his head on the street sign?? That was a weird comical part for a scary movie.

WEIRD LITTLE THINGS
1. The sound of helicopters overhead really stress me out.
You would think I had lived through some intense war in my life by how scared helicopters make me. One just flew over my work building and I caught myself sinking low in my seat with stressed shoulders. It's an irrational fear really, but it's a deeply rooted one that I have yet to discover the source of.
2. As with a lot of people, I love the smell of coffee but don't care for the taste. Just recently however, I started really loving mochas and vanilla lattes. Essentially any coffee that has a whole lot of sweet stuff added to it is the only kind of coffee I can drink.
So far, Blue Copper in downtown SLC wins the Olivia award for best mocha.
They have the yummiest chocolate that they add to their coffee and it's perfection in a mug.
3. I'm still pretty scared of Pennywise from IT. Anytime I have my eyes closed for too long in the shower while I'm washing my face, I picture him being at the drain of the shower when I open my eyes. It's not fun. Don't let your kids watch IT when they're under 10, folks. It'll traumatize them even into adulthood. Maybe if I rewatch it I won't be so scared anymore? Has anyone found that to help with childhood fears?
4. I feel like my office desk is a real office desk now that there are quarters in my drawer. It seemed like everytime I saw my teacher's desk drawers at school they always had a few quarters in the pencil tray next to their paperclips. I officially have 3 quarters now and I'm feeling reeeaal adult about it.
5. I've been addicted to a true crime podcast lately called My Favorite Murder. I know, it sounds morbid and crazy, and frankly, it kind of is. I can't get enough of the two ladies though! I know it sounds crazy to admit I've always slightly been fascinated by serial killers and all that jazz, but I'm just going to throw out there that there must be a lot of us in the world or all those Dateline 20/20 shows wouldn't have been so successful all these years. You guys are all just more secretive about your interest in true crime cases than I am.
The ladies are hilarious and have a lot of the same analyzing approaches that I do.
Also, the podcast is pretty informative. Since listening, I now have gel pepper spray, I lock my front door much more frequently than I used to, and I'm actually much more aware of odd behaviors of men around me. Let's be honest, I would say of people around me, but rarely have I ever felt threatened by another woman. In my experience, it's always been 97% male. Sorry, doods.
One of my favorite recent quotes from the show:
Mine too, girl, mine too.
6. As much as I hate the snow in the winter, I don't mind it in the spring. I think it's a psychological thing because I know it will be over soon. In the winter, I know there are months more of cold and snow ahead and that bums me out, but in the spring I know happy sunny days are just around the corner and just that thought makes it much more bearable!
7. I think Jeremy and I are going to switch our dating anniversary date from February to June. I just feel like June is when we really connected. We spent every single day together since February but it wasn't until June when we seemed official. So maybe we jumped the gun celebrating in February but that's okay! June just seems to fit better.
Also it helps spread out the holidays a bit. This year was kind of crazy gift wise.
It went from Christmas Dec 25,
to Valentine's Day Feb 14,
to anniversary Feb 27,
to my half birthday (yes I celebrate that) Mar 12,
to Jeremy's real birthday Mar 29,
That's just too much stuff to buy and plan for in a 3 month span. Plus, we get to go on fun anniversary trips in June instead of February now! That's fine by me. :)
